Flour Bluff ISD is excited to welcome Kate Collins as the District’s Social Worker. Mrs. Collins holds an Associate of Social Work degree from Del Mar College and a Bachelor of Social Work and Master of Social Work from Texas A&M University-Kingsville. Additionally, she is a veteran of the United States Army.
“My goal for Flour Bluff is to continue the mental health support services our students currently receive and add more to that,” said Mrs. Collins. “Our students have had a unique and challenging year with the COVID-19 pandemic. It is my duty to make sure that our students are equipped properly to identify their thoughts and feelings and know where to turn when they need assistance.”
The District’s Social Worker provides student services including working with local agencies to assist with student and family needs and assists students in areas of attendance, behavior and academics. In addition, Mrs. Collins will be conducting abstinence classes, anger management groups and working with the District’s H.O.S.T.S. Mentoring Program to pair students with a positive role model. Additionally, she will be conducting home visits and assisting with basic needs such as clothes closet and school supplies.
Mrs. Collins will be housed at the Flour Bluff Junior High campus but supports all students across the District. She can be reached by phone at 361.438.0156 or via email at email@example.com.
