Flour Bluff ISD campuses announce Red Ribbon Week activities

Each year, schools across the country and right here in the Coastal Bend promote the importance of being drug free for one week in October, also know as Red Ribbon Week. Teachers and staff take the opportunity during Red Ribbon Week to encourage students to commit to a drug-free and healthy lifestyle.

In Flour Bluff ISD campuses have organized various activities each day of Red Ribbon Week set to be celebrated across the District October 22 – 26. Activities include dress up days, lessons on staying drug-free, guest speakers and various events.

Below is a listing of activities districtwide:

Early Childhood Center
Monday, October 22: “I’m too Bright for Drugs” – Wear neon colors and sunglasses; Kick-off pep rally in ECC Cafeteria, 9 a.m.
Tuesday, October 23: “Stomp-Out Drugs” – Wear cowboy & cowgirl attire and boots to “Stomp Our Drugs”
Wednesday, October 24: “I’m a Jean-ious because I say ‘NO’ to Drugs!” – Wear Red today with your favorite pair of jeans
Thursday, October 25: “Lei-Off Drugs” – Wear a Hawaiian shirt and lei. ECC Trunk-or-Treat, 5:30 – 7 p.m. in the ECC Side Parking Lot
Friday, October 26: “Drugs, Drugs, I don’t need…Just Give Me a Book to Read!” – Storybook Character Parade: Bring a favorite book from home and come dressed as your favorite
storybook character.

Primary School
Friday, October 19: The Ned Show – Character building show and RRW kickoff
Monday, October 22: “Sock it to drugs!” – Wear crazy, silly, mismatched socks; Law enforcement assembly with SWAT and campus police officer; red ribbon week bracelets
Tuesday, October 23: “Follow your dreams not drugs” – Wear school appropriate pajamas; coloring contest; HEB Buddy: BE a buddy not a bully during all lunch shifts.
Wednesday, October 24: “We “Mustache” You to Wear Red” – Wear as much red as possible; come with a mustache!; Red ribbon stickers; Magician Spikey Mikey will present a fun and
informative anti-drug show
Thursday, October 25: “You have the power to say no to drugs!” – Wear a superhero costume; red ribbon bookmarks
Friday, October 26: “Show great character” – Wear your favorite story book character costume; character parade 1:30 p.m.

Elementary School
Monday, October 22: “Shade Out Drugs!” – Wear your favorite pair of sunglasses
Tuesday, October 23: “TWO Cool for Drugs” – Twin up with a friend
Wednesday, October 24: “RED-READY to put a Cap on Drugs” – Wear red and a hat
Thursday, October 25: “Drugs Won’t Find Me” – Wear Camouflage attire
Friday, October 26: “Lei Off Drugs!” – Wear your favorite Hawaiian attire

Intermediate School
Monday October 22: “Crazy Sock Day” – Sock it to drugs
Tuesday, October 23: “Crazy Hat Day” – Shade out drugs
Wednesday, October 24: “Wear Red Day” – Red out drugs
Thursday, October 25: “Camouflage Day” – Fight back against drugs
Friday, October 26: “Team Spirit Day” – Team up against drugs

Junior High School
Monday, October 22: Announcement – History of Red Ribbon Week; Drug Free theme pin/ribbon for each student; “Sock It to Drugs” – Wear red socks to kick-off Red Ribbon Week
Tuesday, October 23: “Don’t Get Caught in the Net of Drugs” – Wear fishing shirts
Wednesday, October 24: “Wear Red Day” – A tribute to Red Ribbon Week
Thursday, October 25: “Stomp Out Drugs” – Wear boots
Friday, October 26: “Team Up Against Drugs” – Wear college/pro team jerseys

High School
Monday, October 22: Announcement (History of Red Ribbon Week); Drug Free theme pin for each student
Tuesday, October 23: “Life is your journey-Travel drug free” – Dress like the country you want to travel to
Wednesday, October 24: “Wear Red Day” – Tribute to Red Ribbon Week
